Description These two denominations (Frank and Forint) were first issued in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1870. and was only valid until 1892. The name of the Forint comes from the gold coin, forino, struck in the city of Florence. Obverse: The coin depicts the Austrian-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph I around the Latin legend “FERENCZ JOZSEF I∙K∙A∙CS∙ES∙M∙H∙S∙D∙O∙AP∙KIR”. Reverse: Reverse of the coin depicts the heraldic shield of the Austro-Hungarian Empire with the coin denomination “20 Fr/8 Frt” also year of the coin. Around the heraldic shield is the inscription “MACYAR KIRALYSAC”.
